Particularly that he wrote the post and continually updated it anticipating his possible death. Very sobering.

I watch the sunday shows every few weeks for a bit and every once in a while catch the deaths... The names ages and home towns... I sometimes wonder about who they really are as people. I peek in sometimes but rarly comment at wings.. I can't say I recall reading him. Still his post seems to show how classy a guy he was and makes me understand that sometimes the debate in abstract fails to show the human impact and the need to understand that policy of all stripes has one even if you and yours are not effected.

In some ways that is why I sometimes think that our news fails to show us the truths. I watched the HBO special awhile back on Bagdad ER... The combat equivalent of the Trauma room.... (The professionalism in that hour was amazing)...
It reminded me that we do not at times respect the jobs done in our name and it also shows me that we have an obligation to our veterans that should never be sub-standard...

Ask courageous questions. Do not be satisfied with superficial answers. Be open to wonder and at the same time subject all claims to knowledge, without exception, to intense skeptical scrutiny. Be aware of human fallibility. Cherish your species and your
