Calm it down people

The site has had a lot of traffic + comments lately and also a lot of bumping up against the posting rules ... not to mention crossing over them.

I'm glad there's active diaries and everything, but it's too much work for the mods to try and police this with soft reminders + humorous deflection.

To our liberal commenters of which there are many, I hope you are keeping an eye not just on the conservatives who post here but also your ideological kin.

What I'd hate to be the case is for inflammatory remarks by conservatives to get disproportionately brought to the attention of the mods leaving inflammatory liberal comments to skirt under the radar.

Just keep it extra nice around here for the next few days. Things have gone a little too far and the site is starting to be a real burden to moderate w/out simply handing out quick and easy suspensions.

A Valuable List (#102550)

2.) throw under the bus
3.) Sister Souljah moment
4.) slap in the face
5.) but how will it play in Scranton? (or whatever city that is supposed to signify middle America).
6.) Middle America
7.) Elitist

10. “Would like to have a beer with him.”
11.) practicing partisan politics or practicing politics as usual
12.) Maverick
13.) Ethnic cleansing
14.) “rock star” to refer to anyone not engaged in the actual playing of actual music.
15.) “give them the tools they need.”
16.) “played the x card” (where x = race, gender, whatever)
17.) white working class and “Reagan Democrats,” who now consist of Geraldine Ferraro and the 6 folks running the 400 sockpuppets at NoQuarter
18.) Adding the ‘-gate’ suffix to any scandal (or, as it is most of the time, non-scandals)
19.) “commander in chief” threshold
20.) stab in the back
21.) family values
22.) “Elitist,” when what you actually mean is able to read at a fourth grade level or higher

I'm on board. Tho' adhering to #1 may seriously reduce the number of future diaries for all of us to enjoy.

Cause and Effect (#102383)
by Harley

I fear that by joining M. Scott Eiland in remaining insult-free for as long as either of us are able and willing has upset some basic balancing component in the universe, leading to, yes, inceased enmity here, but quite possibly toward greater anger in the outside world as well. Should this continue, I am willing to resume insulting people and politicians if this will lead to a larger peace.

Hey. Maybe this is simply my place in the larger scheme of things.

This is the calm before the storm, The longer it lasts, the bigger the explosion at the end, just like when you keep blowing and blowing into a big red balloon.

So I'm buying right into your karmic teeter-totter meme. There will be a correlation between you falling off the wagon and various natural disasters, including a rain of frogs, a plague of locusts, and at least one half-full bottle of VSOP Armagnac being left uncorked overnight so that the genie evaporates and only colored water is left.

Between this and the erection pill thread in the other diary I think you need to get out more. Not that there is anything wrong with Harley being in your wet dreams, of course.
