Welcome the new mods - now 33% more conservative!

I've closed the poll and tallied the results, and our new mods are tomsyl, Jordan and M Scott Eiland. I think we all owe our gratitude to catchy, who IMO did a great job as a mod. Tomsyl and Jordan, well, some people are just gluttons for punishment. Scott has already served as moderator, so I believe for the first time we have all veteran mods. I know a major election is coming up, but let's try to make this term somewhat reasonable for these guys.

I promise I'll try to remember to hold the next elections at the end of December.

1st job for the new mods (#104685)
by Spartacvs

should be to ask Hank to reset the front page voting thingie.

And who broke it?

GW Bush, leading contender for worst President ever.

Yeah, and last night I saw some rum old diaries up (#104686)
by BlaiseP

from users I'd never seen before. I suspect the man behind the curtain, our own worthy HankP, testing some inscrutable mods to the Drupal.

What I think happened (#104712)
by HankP

is that there was a critical security patch to Drupal posted while I was away, and I think some spammers started taking advantage of the holes it patched. I'll apply the patches tonight, and either things will be back to normal or I'll be f&^ked. I think I'll also have to add a capcha to the sign up form.

Congrats also to all the runners up. I look forward to playing Lepidus to a suddenly right-leaning triumvirate.

I think I figured it out (#104604)

we're just 8 years behind the real world. We've had our contested election, therefore expect the new mods to declare war on an unrelated blog in the next year or two, then have it drag on until 2016 or so.

How's that smirk treating you, Scott? ;^D

This'n was a real horse race! I got my money's worth.

You might want to change the (#104512)

You might want to change the (mathematically incorrect) title. From 1 to 2 is 100% more, not 33% more.

I was talking about going from 33% conservative to 66% conservative. Blame the English language for being imprecise.

I know that's what you meant. The English language has that covered. It's "33 percentage points more".

to have all future diaries and comments emailed to you for grammatical analysis before they get posted.

Seriously, it's just a diary headline.

You mean (#104518)

66.66666666666666666666666666666666666...

Which is why God in his infinite mercy allowed the fraction (#104587)

to be invented. I have never liked percentage-based analysis for anything. I always smell a rat when I see 0x25 appear in a document.
