For everyone who isn't already used to that music following them around...
Hi! How's it going?
When you saw this diary title, who did you assume it was going to be about, and why did you assume that? Or any other insights.
Just curious.
Cheers
The following has cropped up here and elsewhere, and appears to be a whisper smear campaign against McCain; the story goes, 'he's the father of a black child'… no wait! That was the South Carolina whisper smear campaign from 2000. Sorry about that, but they are oddly related, because there seems to be a correlation between the types of people who routinely say, "Bush is despicable, look at what he did to McCain in South Carolina" and those pimping this latest one. Now, before anyone assumes I'm only speaking of the port side, I'm seeing it from people on both the left and the right.
So as not to further derail a separate diary on a different subject, I'll attempt as concise an answer to a very complex question from that diary as I can in the limited amount of time I have.
Irving Kristol's pithy definition was, "a liberal who has been mugged by reality." The more precise definition would be -- a leftist who rejects the left, yet seeks a new right. Thus the neo part of neo conservative.
Since it's Friday, and something on the lighter side seems in order…
A while back our own vinteuil was kind enough to lend a queer eye to the handful of straight guys unfortunate enough to have their photos posted here at the Forvm. Why should those guys be the only ones to benefit from such expertise? What about the rest of us?
Well, maybe here is your chance. Just post an image or a link to one, and perhaps v. will grace you with some sage wisdom. To get things going I'll post a link to a recent shot of myself:
Consider the source, ugh, but the NATIONAL ENQUIRER (why do they use all caps?) thinks it has a big scoop:
"SEN. JOHN EDWARDS CAUGHT WITH MISTRESS AND LOVE CHILD!"
This hits shortly after Time Magazine declared, "Edwards, Nunn on Obama's Veep List."
Even if true, the national equirer (no caps, take that!) and its ilk just creep me out.
Since I'm too lazy to go find one, I'll just start a new one.
Interesting link stolen from NRO, Art Garfunkel has a list of every book he's read since 1968
Intriguing on a few different levels. It'd be interesting to compare his reading at a particular time with his coincident music.

If you are a supporter of either of the two democratic candidates for president, you're being a bit foolish to expect the other of the two to "do the right thing" and step aside "for the good of the party". See, the thing is neither of the candidates is "tearing the party apart", they're both just trying to win. They are both too close to winning to assume that either they, or any of their advisors, or people who donated money to them, or people who just want them to win, would believe it's time to throw in the towel. Nobody gets this far if they have the type of personality that would even consider quitting at this stage.
