LA Earthquake Thread

traveller felt it. I felt it. Who else felt it? It was one of those long, swaying rollers in my neighborhood.

Ho hum. Often my first thoughts are of elsewhere. Is the epicenter in NorCal? That would be very bad. Missouri? That would be much worse. I usually wish for the epicenter to be nearby. But hey, I've got two earthquake scars, one from a NorCal roller, and one from a harsh *snap* that happened during the Northridge quake.

¡Oaxaca, Si!

Never did this Flikr thing before. Hope it works.

Edit: Thanks Traveller! So much easier than the code I was trying. Hopefully I can remember this.

Harley Sucks

Er, maybe I should move that "s"...... oh why bother.

The subject is the Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Love 'em or hate 'em. I almost bought one back in the late '60's. That one was the only one I've ever rode, and I've ridden a lot of motorcycles. I've owned over 30 cars, give or take. I've stopped counting. But I've ridden a much wider variety of bikes. I'm prepared to expound, based on comments received. Even if you think that all motorcycles are just stupid boy toys for the small-d*cked banty roosters amongst us, I'd like you to share your thoughts.

Add: For those of you who know the bike well, I actually did ride a Sportster, mid-80's, around for an afternoon.

AP/GOP hit job on Olberman

Joan Walsh, Salon editor, has an appropriate analysis of this AP smear-job.

My favorite film director died today.

Robert Altman. He had been suffering from cancer. In the news report it stated that he had had a heart transplant 10 years ago but kept it a secret because he was afraid that it would make it harder to raise money.

He was known as an "actor's director" because he listened to their suggestions and often encouraged ad libbing.

I particularly liked the way he designed his soundtracks. He would often have numerous, (16 and beyond) microphones hidden on actors, and I really enjoyed the fact that actors in Altman films could often step on others' lines to good effect.

Has anybody besides me seen "Quintet"? I've always blamed the film's failure on his teaming up with major league a** Lionel Chetwynd on that one.
